Recap: Gustine Reds vs. Orestimba Warriors

The Gustine Reds's 17-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They had to suffer through a rough 60-15 loss at the hands of Orestimba. Gustine has struggled against the Warriors recently, as their contest on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Gustine's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brooklyn Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds, and Norma Mac?as who scored two points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Gustine struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Orestimba pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.

Leading Orestimba to victory were Jenessa Gonzalez and Olivia Gray. Gonzalez scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Gray scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Bell, who scored four points along with nine steals.

Gustine has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Orestimba, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.

Gustine will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orestimba, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Denair is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
