Basketball Game Preview: Don Lugo Conquistadores vs. Chino Cowboys

Don Lugo is 1-9 against Chino since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Don Lugo Conquistadores will welcome the Chino Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Monday, Don Lugo had to suffer through a 69-10 loss at the hands of Ontario.

Don Lugo got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Sienna Robles and Maya Hodges, who each put up three points. Hodges also led the team in rebounds with eight.

Meanwhile, Chino lost to El Dorado on the road by a 57-39 margin on Saturday.

Don Lugo will need focus on slowing down Tess Oldenburg, one of several Chino players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Oldenburg is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalia Becerra, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Chino's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Don Lugo, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Don Lugo has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Chino struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
