Union Pines came tearing into Thursday's match with seven straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Southern Lee Cavaliers. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Union Pines had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-16.

Keira Rosenmarkle paced Union Pines' offense, picking up 20 kills. Rosenmarkle got some help from Allie Bauer and her 24 assists. Rosenmarkle was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Union Pines' victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Southern Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-1.

Coming up, Union Pines will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Triton at 5:45 p.m. The Vikings are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Southern Lee, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Cape Fear Christian Academy on the 5th.
