Softball Game Preview: Gretna Dragons vs. Blair Bears

Gretna has gone 8-2 against Blair recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Dragons will venture away from home to challenge the Bears at 6:30 p.m. Gretna is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

If Gretna beats Blair with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Dragons didn't even let Lincoln Northwest on the board on Friday, marking the Dragons' second-straight 10-0 shutout.

Ava Nance was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Woodward, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs.

Gretna hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Blair's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Elkhorn by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Bears couldn't push the score so high this time.

Blair saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia McClain, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.

Gretna's record is now 21-6. As for Blair, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-7.

Everything went Gretna's way against Blair in their previous matchup back in August, as Gretna made off with a 13-0 win. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
