Basketball Game Preview: Culver City Centaurs vs. Santa Monica Vikings

Culver City and Santa Monica are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Culver City Centaurs will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Santa Monica Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Culver City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Culver City is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Beverly Hills: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Culver City blew Beverly Hills out of the water with a 66-15 final score. The Centaurs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Santa Monica was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 44-40 to Lawndale.

Santa Monica's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Culver City, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.

Culver City beat Santa Monica 48-38 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Culver City repeat their success, or does Santa Monica have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
