While River Ridge's win against Hudson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Royal Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 88-85 victory over the Cobras on Thursday. The Royal Knights haven't had any issues with the Cobras recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
River Ridge was led to victory by Trey Handelong and Kolten Casarez. Handelong went 9-for-11 en route to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, while Casarez shot 55% from the field on his way to 14 points along with six steals and five assists. What's more, Handelong posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Quintin Burch, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
River Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Despite the loss, Hudson still got an impressive performance from Tristan Fevriette, who went 8-for-14 en route to 21 points and six rebounds. Fevriette has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Kalan Schroder was another key player, shooting 75% from the field on his way to 14 points.
The victory got River Ridge back to even at 1-1. As for Hudson, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.
River Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 70-67 win against Palm Harbor University on the 21st. As for Hudson, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Anclote at 7:30 p.m. on December 1.
