Soccer Game Preview: Casa Grande vs. Vintage

The Casa Grande Gauchos will square off against the Vintage Crushers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are still undefeated after seven-games, but that won't be the case come Wednesday.

Vintage better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Casa Grande really get things going. Casa Grande's defense stepped up to hand Sonoma Valley a 3-0 shutout on Friday. The Gauchos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by three goals or more this season.

Bailey Guerrero and Ashley Melton scored all three of Casa Grande's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, Vintage won against Napa on Wednesday with 17 goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Friday. Vintage blew past American Canyon 17-0. Given the Crushers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Wolves are ranked 1063rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vintage has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-0-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 44 goals over those eight contests. As for Casa Grande, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0-1.

Casa Grande beat Vintage 2-0 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does Casa Grande have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vintage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
