Softball Recap: Adams Central Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Cecilia, Adams Central was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the McCook Bison, sneaking past 6-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-3 last Saturday.

Joshlyn Konen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Konen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Konen wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lakyn Lewis, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another was Macie Deines, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Adams Central's record now sits at 9-16. As for McCook, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Adams Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McCook, they will host St. Cecilia at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bluehawks have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
