Basketball Recap: Sherman Oaks CES Takes a Loss

It was fun while it lasted, but Sherman Oaks CES's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Friday. They took a blow against the Burroughs Bears, falling 70-28. The matchup marked the Knights' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Burroughs found their leader in freshman Isabella Amayakyan, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Amayakyan a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Polina Gorgeiz, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Sherman Oaks CES fell to 8-1. As for Burroughs, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-6.

Sherman Oaks CES and Burroughs should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Sherman Oaks CES (ranked 248th) will meet Lakeview Charter (ranked 573rd) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Burroughs (ranked 155th) will meet Bishop Alemany (ranked 390th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
