Basketball Recap: Gertz-Ressler's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Gertz-Ressler had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Elizabeth Bulldogs by a score of 23-15. That's two games straight that the Pumas have won by exactly eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gertz-Ressler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elizabeth Ortega, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bernadett Olivares, who put up four points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.

Gertz-Ressler's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Elizabeth, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Gertz-Ressler will challenge Marquez at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gertz-Ressler's defense has only allowed 23 points per game this season, so Marquez's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Elizabeth, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-34 defeat against Jordan on the 11th.
