Football Recap: Brandon Hamilton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cherokee over Lambert + How To Watch

Cherokee lost against Lambert back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Warriors took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Longhorns. The Warriors gained 64 more yards on the day, but it was the Longhorns that made the best use of them.

Cherokee lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brandon Hamilton, who rushed for 155 yards and one score on only 15 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Ruban, who picked up 166 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Lambert found their leader in sophomore Kayson Ochoa, who rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Another player making a difference was Ethan Daughtery, who threw for 231 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

Cherokee's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Lambert, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherokee will host North Paulding at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 904 yards in their previous games. As for Lambert, they will take on West Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Longhorns' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
