Football Recap: Thornridge Comes Up Short

Thornridge extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They were outmatched by the Rich Township Raptors and fell 63-19. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 66-18 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Thornridge lost, don't look at Tyrone Holcomb. Despite the final result, he threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 79 yards and one score on only ten carries.

As for Rich Township, the win got them back to even at 4-4. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kai Williams and Ortez Johnson. Williams rushed for 158 yards and three TDs on only five carries while Johnson rushed for 126 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. Those 158 rushing yards gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marlon Erves, who rushed for 83 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

Thornridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 64-0 loss against Thornwood on the 24th. As for Rich Township, they have also already played their next contest, a 48-8 defeat against Lincoln-Way Central on the 24th.
