Basketball Recap: American Comes Up Short

American lost against Washington back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The American Eagles took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Washington Huskies.

Despite the defeat, American saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shirina Shi went 8-for-16 on her way to 22 points. The contest was Shi's 16th in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Leann Wang, who posted seven points and 13 boards.

American's loss dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

American has already played their next game, a 57-38 defeat against Moreau Catholic on the 12th. As for Washington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-43 victory against King's Academy on the 10th.
