Baseball Recap: St. Andrew's Gets the Win

St. Andrew hadn't done well against Frederica Academy recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lions narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Knights 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since March 7th.

The team relied heavily on Ellis Kelley, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. St. Andrew's is undefeated when Kelley posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isaac Wrieden, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

St. Andrew's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-5. As for Frederica Academy, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

Coming up, St. Andrew's will be playing in front of their home fans against Savannah Athletic Association at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Frederica Academy, they will head out to face off against Westminster Schools of Augusta at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
