Basketball Game Preview: Blackhawk Cougars vs. North Catholic Trojans

The Blackhawk Cougars will face off against the North Catholic Trojans on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Blackhawk is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 58-32 margin over Clearfield. 58 seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Blackhawk's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aubree Hupp led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and 24 boards. The match was Hupp's 33rd in a row with at least 15 points. Mia Sheesley was another key player, going 8-for-18 on her way to 22 points.

Blackhawk was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clearfield only four assists.

Meanwhile, North Catholic waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Huskies 57-33.

Blackhawk is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points over those games. North Catholic's win bumped their record up to 18-4.

Blackhawk couldn't quite finish off North Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 40-37. Can Blackhawk avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
