Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Whitney Pioneers vs. Kingsburg Vikings

Mt. Whitney hasn't had much luck against Kingsburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mt. Whitney Pioneers will welcome the Kingsburg Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Mt. Whitney has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Mt. Whitney is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Redwood last Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mt. Whitney took a blow against Redwood, falling 71-36. The Pioneers were down 51-30 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ivy Carter, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Mt. Whitney smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Kingsburg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 49-43 to Selma. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Mt. Whitney's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Kingsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
