Basketball Recap: Vaux Big Picture Gets the Win

On Wednesday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Vaux Big Picture made off with a 20-19 victory over First Philadelphia Prep.

Vaux Big Picture's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Princess Downes led the charge by putting up nine points along with six steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Downes has scored at least a third of Vaux Big Picture's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Cruz, who posted four points in addition to 15 boards and three steals.

Vaux Big Picture's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5. As for First Philadelphia Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Vaux Big Picture will square off against Martin Luther King at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. First Philadelphia Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
