Preview: Lanesville Eagles vs. New Washington Mustangs
Lanesville is 9-1 against New Washington since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Lanesville Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the New Washington Mustangs at 1:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lanesville has 26 straight victories, New Washington has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Lanesville was able to grind out a solid victory over Crawford County, taking the game 52-39.
Lanesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hadley Crosier, who scored 17 points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Kerr, who scored nine points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, New Washington suffered a tough 54-32 defeat at the hands of Jac-Cen-Del on Saturday. While losing is never fun, New Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Jac-Cen-Del is ranked 87th).
Lanesville's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.36 points. As for New Washington, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Lanesville against New Washington in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 63-18 victory. With Lanesville ahead 39-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
