The Valwood Valiants will venture away from home to square off against the Irwin County Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Valwood came up short against Terrell Academy on Tuesday, falling 7-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Valiants in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Valwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abi Brooks, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Irwin County had already won 19 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it 20 on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rebels, sneaking past 3-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Indians' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Brooklyn Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brynlee Brown was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Katie Alberson, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Irwin County's victory bumped their record up to 22-2. As for Valwood, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Valwood couldn't quite get it done against Irwin County in their previous meeting back in September as they fell 6-1. Can the Valiants avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
