Soccer Game Preview: Echols County vs. Valdosta

Echols County hasn't had much luck against Valdosta recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Echols County will head out to take on Valdosta at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Echols County's victory against Worth County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats skirted past the Rams 4-3.

Meanwhile, Valdosta came into Friday's matchup having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Brunswick 4-1 on Friday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 3-0.

Valdosta used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Brunswick. Leandro Vasquez played for 80 minutes having averaged 48.5 this season. Kelog Pufong made the most of the opportunity, scoring two goals A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Echols County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those five matches. As for Valdosta, their victory bumped their record up to 2-15.

Echols County might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Valdosta when the teams last played back in February of 2021. Can Echols County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
