Softball Recap: Davenport Central Comes Up Short

Davenport Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They came up short against the Assumption Knights, falling 15-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 on Thursday.

Davenport Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-28. As for Assumption, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 22-12-1 record this season.

Davenport Central and Assumption could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings. The Blue Devils (ranked 236th) will meet Davenport West (ranked 106th) on Thursday. Meanwhile, Assumption will take on Xavier at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (58 vs. 2).
