Soccer Game Preview: Southeast Polk vs. Valley

Southeast Polk is 0-6 against Valley since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Rams will welcome the Tigers. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Southeast Polk headed into their last game having not scored more than one goal for nine straight, but Sioux City North let them put that streak behind them. The Rams never let the Stars get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering Southeast Polk's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Valley had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They blew past the Black Raiders 9-0. Valley's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five contests.

Valley pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 44 goals over those ten matchups. As for Southeast Polk, their win bumped their record up to 8-9-6.

Southeast Polk came up short against Valley when the teams last played back in April, falling 5-3. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
