Soccer Game Preview: Coalinga vs. Mendota

The Coalinga Horned Toads will face off against the Mendota Aztecs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Coalinga is headed into Tuesday's following a draw, the team's first since December 21. They and Avenal finished up their match with a 1-1 draw on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Mendota came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 goals) and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Broncos a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Aztecs have won seven contests by more than three goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mendota is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those nine games. Coalinga's draw makes their record 6-10-6 this season.
