Basketball Recap: South Tahoe Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Tahoe had won two straight games and Campbell Mathews did her part to make it three on Friday. The South Tahoe Vikings were the clear victor by a 49-23 margin over the Sparks Railroaders thanks in part to Mathews, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of South Tahoe's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Milan Riva, who posted two points along with six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Despite the defeat, Sparks had strong showings from Maria Cerritos, who put up four points and five boards, and Shea Patterson, who had nine points. Cerritos is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Bailey Hunden was another key player, putting up three points and five rebounds.

South Tahoe is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Sparks, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

South Tahoe didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-22 win against Truckee on the 21st. As for Sparks, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-41 loss against Wooster on the 21st.
