Basketball Game Preview: Stevenson Pirates vs. North Salinas Vikings

The Stevenson Pirates will square off against the North Salinas Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stevenson has ten straight victories, North Salinas has 18 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Stevenson picked up another tournament win last Monday. They snuck past Laguna Beach with a 49-44 win.

Stevenson found their leader in sophomore Ashley Dalhamer, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dalhamer has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grace Ishii, who posted four points in addition to seven steals and six boards.

Stevenson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, North Salinas played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Salinas, falling 58-8. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Stevenson's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for North Salinas, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
