After a string of 17 wins, Marian Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Williams Valley Vikings. Marian Catholic was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Williams Valley earlier this season, when they won 28-23.

Addy Marek and Deanna Pugh certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Marek posted 11 points and six boards, while Pugh put up nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Pugh is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Carley Hasara was another key player, putting up three points and three steals.

Marian Catholic's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 19-2. As for Williams Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marian Catholic will head out to square off against Shenandoah Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Williams Valley has already played their next contest (against Our Lady of Lourdes Regional), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
