Valley has gone 7-1 against Ankeny recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Tigers will challenge the Hawks at 5:00 p.m. Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Ankeny's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ankeny Centennial, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly two runs.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Ankeny's offense. They lost 12-0 to North Polk on Thursday. The Hawks just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

This is the second loss in a row for Valley and nudges their season record down to 27-10. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Ankeny, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-25.

Valley beat Ankeny 4-0 in their previous meeting back in June. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
