Soccer Game Preview: Central East vs. Clovis

Central East hasn't had much luck against Clovis recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bengals are taking a road trip to square off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Central East's offense. They came up short against Clovis East on Tuesday, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Central East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Clovis East are ranked 143rd).

Meanwhile, Clovis also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 3-0 to Clovis West on Tuesday. Clovis have struggled against Clovis West recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Clovis' loss dropped their record down to 5-11-2. As for Central East, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8-1.

Central East might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Clovis when the teams last played back in February of 2025. Can the Bengals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
