Bishop Guilfoyle came tearing into Saturday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 61-45 win over the Williamsburg Blue Pirates. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Blue Pirates are ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Blue Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leeanna Royer, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anastasia Ranalli, who put up 12 points.

Bishop Guilfoyle's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-2. As for Williamsburg, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-5.

Coming up, Bishop Guilfoyle will host Bishop Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop Carroll knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Bishop Guilfoyle likes a good challenge. Williamsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
