Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Metea Valley Mustangs

The Plainfield South Cougars will take on the Metea Valley Mustangs at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Plainfield South had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of Hinsdale South by a score of 57-54 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since January 22nd.

The losing side was boosted by Zahira Edwards, who shot 47% from the field en route to 23 points. Another player making a difference was Layla Lesure, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Metea Valley escaped with a win on Thursday against Warren Township by the margin of a single free throw, 29-28.

Plainfield South was able to grind out a solid win over Metea Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, winning 35-24. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
