Basketball Preview: San Juan Spartans vs. Rio Vista Rams
San Juan has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Rio Vista Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, San Juan was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to the Grizzlies.
Meanwhile, Rio Vista had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They took down Highlands 38-24.
It was another big night for Samiah Holley, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed eight or more in the last three games she's played. Guadalupe Valdenegro was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten rebounds and 12 steals.
San Juan's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Rio Vista, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
San Juan was dealt a bruising 52-20 loss at the hands of the Rams in their previous meeting back in January. Can San Juan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
