Basketball Recap: JW North Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

JW North played in conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Liberty Bison 34-32. That's more bragging rights for the Huskies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

JW North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brijanae Ward out in front who posted seven points in addition to nine boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Marisol Blanco, who put up four points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

JW North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Liberty's loss came despite strong showings from Malaya Baker and Kahili Paulino. Baker almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards, while Paulino scored six points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Baker a new career-high in steals (six).
