Recap: Burroughs Bears vs. Hoover Tornados
The Burroughs Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Hoover 50-2 on the road. That looming 50-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Burroughs yet this season.
Burroughs found their leader in underclassman Elizabeth Amoroso, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five steals. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Valentina Morales, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Burroughs' victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Hoover, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burroughs won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Holy Martyrs Armenian at 4:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Holy Martyrs Armenian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 498th, while Burroughs is ranked 145th). Hoover will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Burbank at 5:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
