High school basketball: Top 50 Duke signee Darren Harris explodes for 52 points for No. 2 Paul VI

Blue Devil commit connected on 15-of-20 field goal attempts and 7-of-11 3-pointers in 101-58 win over St. Mary's Ryken.

Top 50 Duke signee Darren Harris of No. 2 Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.) erupted for a career-high 52 points, missing just five shots, in a 101-58 victory over St. Mary's Ryken (Leonardtown, Md.) on Wednesday.

The impressive performance marked the second Duke commit to post an efficient scoring outburst in a six-day stretch as five-star Blue Devil pledge Isaiah Evans of North Mecklenburg (Huntersville, N.C.) dopped 44 points on 16-of-19 from the field on Friday.

Harris, regarded as the No. 49 prospect in the Class of 2024 according to 247Sports, connected on 15-of-20 field goal attempts, 7-of-11 shots from 3-point range and sank all 15 free throw attempts.

The 6-foot-6 wing also collected six steals, five assists and three rebounds across 26 minutes of action. He improved his season numbers to 18.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals.

Another teammate also achieved a career milestone during the contest as top 80 Connecticut signee Isaiah Abraham reached 1,000 points in his high school basketball career.



Paul VI (23-2) improved to 11-0 in Washington Catholic Athletic Conference action with four games remaining in regular-season play. The Panthers return to the court on Friday against Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.).
