Baseball Recap: Lafayette Extends Road Winning Streak to Nine

Lafayette got themselves on the board against Hamilton County on Monday, but Hamilton County never followed suit. They blew past the Hamilton County Trojans 10-0. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Brayden Richardson made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Garrett Taylor was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. Trevor Byrd was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Lafayette pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Hamilton County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Coming up, Lafayette will square off against Williston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lafayette knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Williston likes a good challenge. As for Hamilton County, they will take on Madison County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
