Softball Recap: Lincoln East Takes Down Ranked Lincoln North Star

Lincoln East faced Lincoln North Star in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Navigators with a sharp 14-6 win. The victory was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on four straight.

Paetyn Sandy was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Coleman, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Lincoln East hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Lincoln East's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Lincoln North Star, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lincoln East will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Navigators: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
