Football Game Preview: Edina Hornets vs. Lakeville South Cougars

The Edina Hornets will challenge the Lakeville South Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Edina will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points last Friday, then bounced right back against St. Michael-Albertville on Friday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 42-21 victory. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Knights are ranked 87th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lakeville South entered their tilt with Eagan on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 31-8 margin over the Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lakeville South's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Edina, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Edina didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Lakeville South in their previous meeting back in August of 2018, but they still walked away with a 13-8 victory.
