Basketball Recap: Chico Has No Trouble Against Durham

Chico's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They took down the Durham Trojans 59-43.

Josie Carlos was nothing short of spectacular: she went 8 of 16 en route to 21 points and four steals. What's more, she also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Solano, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points.

Despite the defeat, Durham saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sadie Sjolund posted ten points. Ava Bunch was another key player, putting up ten points.

The win got Chico back to even at 3-3. As for Durham, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Chico wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-37 loss against Del Oro on the 18th. As for Durham, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-38 victory against Oroville on the 17th.
