Baseball Recap: Heritage Drops Highest Score of Season Against South Gwinnett

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage). They were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over the South Gwinnett Comets on Friday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Heritage let Charles Walker and Adam Bolton run wild. Walker scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Bolton scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Walker is becoming a predictor of Heritage's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Cal Lumpkin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Heritage pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for South Gwinnett, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Coming up, Heritage will challenge Archer at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. Archer's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Heritage's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for South Gwinnett, they will square off against Rockdale County at 5:55 p.m. on Monday.
