Baseball Game Preview: Quincy Blue Devils vs. Granite City Warriors

The Quincy Blue Devils will challenge the Granite City Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Quincy's offense. They fell 3-0 to Moline on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Maroons: they've now lost eight in a row.

Quincy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Salisbury, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Granite City's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They came up short against Belleville West, falling 12-2.

Quincy's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Granite City, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Granite City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Quincy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. It's a different story for Granite City, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Quincy's hitters?

Quincy was able to grind out a solid victory over Granite City in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
