Soccer Recap: Mater Dei Comes Up Short

Mater Dei was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Santa Margarita Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Eagles are ranked first).

Mater Dei's loss dropped their record down to 7-5-4. As for Santa Margarita, they pushed their record up to 12-0-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei will welcome JSerra Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. JSerra Catholic's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Santa Margarita, they will be playing at home against Orange Lutheran at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Margarita's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Orange Lutheran's offense will have their work cut out for them.
