Softball Game Preview: Mid-Buchanan Dragons vs. Lawson Cardinals

The Mid-Buchanan Dragons will face off against the Lawson Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mid-Buchanan is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Mid-Buchanan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Oak Grove, who was ranked 13th at the time (Mid-Buchanan was ranked 16th). The Dragons came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 7-3 on Monday.

Dru Pearson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-6 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Pearson wasn't the only one making solid contact as nine players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ella Christie, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Those three hits gave Christie a new career-high. Sophia Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Lawson didn't have quite enough to beat West Platte on Thursday and fell 5-4.

Mid-Buchanan's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Lawson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
