Basketball Recap: Grossmont Sets Scoring Season-High Against Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grossmont). They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging an 80-35 win over the Central Spartans. The Foothillers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Grossmont found their leader in sophomore Aakash Price, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. Price is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Esther Agoh, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Grossmont was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Victoria Zamora posted 16 points. Maryanne Barrett was another key player, putting up five points.

The victory made it two in a row for Grossmont and bumps their season record up to 15-3. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Grossmont will square off against Granite Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grossmont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Central, they will challenge Calexico at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
