Basketball Recap: Oakhaven Falls Despite Big Games from Derrick Betts and Ayden Deener

Oakhaven suffered their biggest loss since January 17th on Friday. They lost 53-31 to the Germantown Red Devils. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Hawks' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Ayden Deener and Derrick Betts certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Deener posted ten points, while Betts scored ten points.

Oakhaven's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Germantown, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Oakhaven will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Westwood at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2026. Germantown and Houston will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Red Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season.
