Football Recap: Anderson Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Anderson extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They were dealt a 58-21 defeat at the hands of the Marion Giants. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 64-24 to the Giants when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Marion, they moved to 2-7 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Marion was led to victory by Jayden Johnson and Timotheus Jones. Johnson rushed for 219 yards and five TDs while picking up 12.9 yards per carry, while Jones rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 110.8 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Lycarr Bledsoe, who gained 80 total yards and a touchdown.

Anderson and Marion are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Indians will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for Marion, they will challenge Muncie Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Johnson and Landan Johnson.
