Softball Recap: Hastings Falls Short Against Ranked Waverly

Hastings faced Waverly in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers lost 16-6 to the Vikings. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this contest were averaging 3.79 runs allowed.

STELLA THOMSEN was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. HADYN LAUX was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Hastings' defeat dropped their record down to 20-8. As for Waverly, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-10.

Coming up, Hastings will look to defend their home field on Monday against Grand Island Central Catholic. As for Waverly, they will challenge Bennington at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings are facing the Badgers at the right time seeing as the Badgers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
