Basketball Recap: South El Monte Skates Past Mountain View with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gabrielino, South El Monte was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 49-10 victory over the Mountain View Vikings. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

South El Monte's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brianna Mendoza, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals. Mendoza continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Justine Lucero, who posted 17 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.

South El Monte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

South El Monte's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Mountain View, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

South El Monte wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-26 win against Marshall on the 31st. Mountain View has also already played their next game, a 61-4 loss against Gabrielino on the 31st.
