Basketball Game Preview: Englewood Rams vs. Stanton Blue Devils

The Englewood Rams will venture away from home to take on the Stanton Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Englewood lost to First Coast on the road by a 54-35 margin. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now lost five in a row.

The losing side was boosted by Skylar Pierre, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomas Mitchell, who put up three points.

Meanwhile, Stanton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 72-33 loss at the hands of Fletcher. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 675th, while the Senators are ranked 170th).

Englewood's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Stanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Englewood couldn't quite finish off Stanton in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 34-31. Can Englewood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
