Soccer Game Preview: Oroville vs. Corning

Oroville hasn't had much luck against Corning recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Oroville face off against the Corning at 4:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Oroville is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to Orland. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1171st, while the Trojans are ranked 408th).

Meanwhile, Corning fell victim to Live Oak and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Oroville's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Corning, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Oroville might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Corning when the teams last played on January 14th. Can Oroville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
