Softball Recap: Golden Takes a Loss

Golden extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 4-4. They came up short against the Eaglecrest Raptors, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Demons have lost by exactly ten runs.

Golden saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrianna Riddle, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

As for Eaglecrest, their record now sits at 7-2. The result was nothing new for the Raptors, who have now won seven contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

On Eaglecrest's side, Zaya Elliott made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Elliott has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Lelia Kelliher was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those triples were her first of the season. Haisley Elliott was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Golden and Eaglecrest should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Demons will take on Green Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (19 vs. 69). Meanwhile, Eaglecrest (ranked sixth) will meet Rock Canyon (ranked 78th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
